Maybe Martyn's mate Arnie has been around for a while and knows some it... If you spot Andy Crawley over at Yahoo ask him, he offered but I haven't seen a post from him in a while.

I just fished an old NFLAY off my hard drive, its from about 2004 season. In the Wildcard the Cowboys beat the Eagles whereby: the Philly defense ran it back for a score which made up for the complete lack of production from their offense. good to see some things never change. The Bengals beat the Fins in the AFC wildcard the divisional games for the next week were bengals at colts seahawks at steelers Pittsburgh have been dominant all season with their aggressive defense cowboys at panthers If anyone has a defense capable of slowing be free scoring Carolina offense, it‛s Dallas. giants at bears the newsletter seems to have been put together by panther andy crawley and bengal rob crowther. I might drop them a line and see if they have any more of these beauties. --Last edited by ALEX on 2005-12-09 23:13:54 --

been sleuthing together some bits and pieces from some old newsletters I found here http://www.dotrob.com/gameplan/NFLAY/index.html I'll add a history of final standings for each division at some point NFLAY History [2010] (SB IRL=13/9/07) *this season stay tuned! AFC Championship Game: NFC Championship Game AFC Divisional Game 1: Cincinati bengals @ Indianapolis Colts (IRL=10/9/2002) AFC Divisional Game 2: Seattle Seahawks @ Pittsburgh Steelers NFC Divisional Game 1: Dallas Cowboys @ Carolina Panthers NFC Divisional Game 2: New York Giants @ Chicago Bears AFC Wildcard Game: Cincinati Bengals 14-2 defeat Miami Dolphins 9-7 Cincinnatti struggled for three quarters to put the visiting Dolphins away but a succession of redzone mistakes combined with solid punting kept Miami in with a shout. Finally in the fourth quarter the Bengals‛ offense broke out of it‛s funk, going 95 yards in four plays for a touchdown that effectively ended the game. NFC Wildcard Game: Dallas Cowboys 8-8 defeat Philadelphia Eagles 9-7 Dallas almost ruined an excellent defensive performance by handing the Eagles a healthy 11 point first half lead thanks to a fumble at their own 24, the Philly defense ran it back for a score which made up for the complete lack of production from their offense. In second half, however, the Cowboys‛ defense continued to dominate while their offense slowly began to crank it up. Two second half passing touchdowns sealed the comeback, and the game for Dallas [2003] SUPERBOWL: Carolina Panthers (Andy Crawley) defeated Baltimore Ravens For the second straight year the Ravens and Panthers faced each other in the Superbowl. Carolina once again started as favourites, but no-one could write off Baltimore with their excellent playoff form. The game started well for the Ravens with two first quarter touchdowns, but after that defenses took over, Baltimore were extremely successful in limiting the big play Carolina offense. Neither team offered much in the way of scoring threats until Carolina finally broke into the endzone in the fourth quarter. It was too late by then, however, and the Ravens claimed their second consecutive AY superbowl crown. AFC Championship Game: Baltimore defeat Cincinati Cincinnati started strong but had to settle for a field goal, Baltimore hod no such trouble finishing and ran it in from 35 yards out. An interception helped the Bengals overcome a very poor punt and end the quarter 3 points to the good. Baltimore regained the lead thanks to a Cincy interception, but another long drive tied the game up for the Bengals just after the two minute warning. Then, in a decisive 107 second burst, the Ravens hit field goals first from 52 yards and then from 58 yards to go in ahead by 6. The Bengals seemed somewhat shell shocked by this and struggled for field position throughout the third quarter. In the fourth they had a promising position, starting a drive at their own 42, but a fumble led directly to Baltimore's decisive final score. NFC Championship Game: Carolina Defeated Chicago Chicago had trouble getting their offense started despite a good kick return, but must have felt good after pinning the Panthers back to their own 4 yard line with a great punt. The good feeling didn't last long, however, as four plays later Carolina were in the endzone. A swift response from the Bears cut the lead to 4 but the ensuing kickoff was returned 65 yards and Carolina only needed two attempts to get back in the endzone. Chicago spent much of the rest of the half struggling to move the ball as the Panthers padded their lead with field goals. The opening drive of the second quarter started with another good Carolina kick return was followed by a five play drive and another touchdown. The Bears went to the deep passes to try and pull it back, and managed to get one touchdown on the board, but more often than not their drives petered out on fourth down. AFC Divisional Game 1: Raiders 10-6 @ Ravens 12-4 AFC Divisional Game 2: Bengals 10-5-1 @ Colts 11-5 NFC Divisional Game 1: Lions 8-8 @ Panthers 16-0 NFC Divisional Game 2: Redskins 10-6 @ Bears 15-1 AFC Wildcard Game: Cincinati defeat New England In Cincinnati the Bengals got off to a fast start and never looked back. The New England offense struggled to gain momentum, averaging less than five yards a pass and never really getting their ground game going. Third quarter turnovers gave Cincinnati several easy chances and the game was over by the time the Patriots finally got their first touchdown in the fourth quarter. NFC Wildcard Game: Detroit Defeat San Francicso Something of a surprise occurred in San Francisco where the favoured 49ers couldn't establish any sort of consistency in the face of a tough Detroit defense, managing only 11 first downs all day. The Redskins, meanwhile, where controlling the ball and the clock with a display of power running. Only Detroit turnovers were keeping the game close and it nearly cost them dearly in the fourth quarter when the 49ers finally hit the endzone with a 57 yard touchdown pass, but the Redskins' defense held firm on the two point conversion to secure victory. [2002] 14th season? SUPERBOWL: Carolina Panthers (Andy Crawley) defeated Baltimore Ravens AFC Championship Game: Baltimore defeated San Diego NFC Championship Game: Carolina defeated San Francisco AFC Divisional Game 1: Baltimore defeated Indianapolis AFC Divisional Game 2: San Diego defeated Cincinati NFC Divisional Game 1: Carolina defeated Detroit NFC Divisional Game 2: San Francisco defeated Dallas AFC Wildcard Game: Baltimore defeated Oakland NFC Wildcard Game: Washington @ San Francisco [2001] [2000] [1999] [1998] [1997] [1996] _____/ [19...? --Last edited by alex on 2007-06-17 18:43:17 --

Nice job Alex. l forgot way back when l started when the Raiders won they beat the Redskins, no wonder Arnie has got it together. l tried to find my old stuff from that season but the hard copies are gone and the soft copies are on the old PBM computer which died a while ago, so it's all lost. l remember the Titans made the playoffs that year the Raiders won, the Raiders beat us in a close one, but l cannot remember if it was the Divisional or Championship game. --Last edited by STORMIN on 2007-06-04 14:23:42 --

If you still have the computer you should be able to plug the hard disk drive into another computer to retrieve the info off it. I'm sure there are computer shops that would do this for you for a small fee as it'd be pretty simple. That season is pretty much a blank for us, those files would be great to recover. NFLAY History [2010] (SB IRL=13/9/07) *this season stay tuned! [2009] (SB IRL=16/11/06) SUPERBOWL: Carolina Panthers (Nick Sims) defeated New England Patriots (Greg Salmon) AFC Championship Game: Patriots 20 defeated 13 Houston Texans (Martyn Williams) NFC Championship Game: Panthers 30 defeated 7 Arizona Cardinals (Mike Thorp-Potter) AFC Divisional Game 1: New England Patriots 34 defeated 7 Kansas City Chiefs (Dave Flesfader) AFC Divisional Game 2: Texans 20 defeated 15 San Diego Chargers (Paul Gorner) NFC Divisional Game 1: Panthers 24 defeated 10 Minnesota Vikings (Paul DeKievit) NFC Divisional Game 2: Cardinals 21 defeated 18 Atlanta Falcons (Alan Horton) AFC Wildcard Game: Chargers 33 defeated 21 Cincinati Bengals(Tom Richards) NFC Wildcard Game: Falcons 28 defeated 21 Philadelphia Eagles (Alex Coombe) [2008] (SB IRL=26/1/06) SUPERBOWL: San Diego Chargers (Paul Gorner) 25 defeated 7 Carolina Panthers (Nick Sims) The Chargers came into the Superbowl vast underdogs, as they attempted to turn a 0-6 start into Superbowl glory through the acquisition of head coach Paul GOZ Gorner. They faced hot favourites and NFLAY Kings, the Carolina Panthers, who are coached by the highly respected and accomplished coach Nick Sims, often thought of as the best coach in the league due to having not yet lost a game as coach. Both teams have featured hot offences in the regular season, and both teams have blown away their Playoff opponents seemingly with ease for the most part. The fact that San Diego had played an extra playoff game was worrying Coach Gorner, but he needn’t, as they produced one of the shocks of the season and one of the comebacks of the season from that 0-6 start. The media spectacle and millions of football fans watched as RB Jesse Chatman received the kick off and knelt down for the touchback to start the NFLAY Superbowl. Coach Gorner had a plan early on to let QB Doug Flutie run with the ball on draw plays and take the game into his own hands. He spent all week training with this play and emphasised its importance before the start of play. Coach Gorner knew that he had to get his running game going and try to spring a surprise on Coach Sims. The quarterback draw was probably the last thing Coach Sims was expecting and didn’t have the right defensive plays to cause problems. The Chargers started with run, pass, run, pass and stalled on 3rd & 13. The Panthers took over after a mediocre punt. They moved the ball well and gained a couple of first downs, but, on 1st & 10 at the half way line, QB Jake Delhomme was sacked by the all out blitz of the defence while looking over the middle for his probowl WR Steve Smith on a slant pattern, and Delhomme fumbled, which was recovered by San Diego’s Jason Fisk. On the first play, Flutie found WR Tim Dwight for 18-yards and were set in excellent field position. After further moving the ball, FB Lorenzo Neal ran in from 1-yard for the score with the Extra Point good and a 7-0 score. Play was exchanged a couple of times for the rest of the quarter, with neither team threatening. At the start of the 2nd quarter, the Chargers moved the ball well and set up a 6-minute drive but fell short with 1st & Goal and had to settle for the Field Goal. Again, the Panthers failed to get near the Chargers endzone on their next possession, and when SS Jerry Wilson intercepted Delhomme as he went deep to probowl WR Musin Muhammad, the warning signs were there. The Chargers had another big drive from that interception thanks to some excellent running from QB Flutie and short passing, but again fell short of the endzone and had to settle for a Field Goal. On their next possession, following a DeShaun Foster carry for a 2-yard loss, QB Delhomme was again in trouble as protection failed on a rollout pass, the Chargers all out blitz sacked the probowler and he fumbled the ball away. With time running out, San Diego had to settle for another Field Goal, but with a 16-0 half time lead, they couldn’t have asked for anything better and the millions of viewers were stunned- but not as much as the Panthers players and fans. Coach Sims wasn’t expecting to go into half time 16-0 down! The scoreline reflected the game especially the increadible pressure generated by the Chargers on the leagues best offence and the poise under fire exhibited by the Charger’s signal caller Flutie, and when you consider the stats, you can imagine what was said in the changing room. In that first half, the Chargers ran for 63 yards compared to the Panthers’ 35. The Chargers passed for 150 yards compared to the Panthers’ 83. This wasn’t in the Sims’ scrïpt. The 3rd quarter was pretty quiet with neither team moving the ball and neither team hitting any big yardage. The Panthers needed to score quickly but struggled to do what has come naturally for them all season long. The Chargers also failed to impress, but they didn’t mind because they were in front and it was the Panthers who were playing catch-up. Every passing minute brought them closer to victory. The start of the 4th quarter was more of the same with neither team showing any of the form they showed during the regular season. Again, the Chargers just did what they had to do and not make any mistakes. They knew, that if they let the Panthers in, then all hell could break loose from that awesome offence, but they didn’t, and Coach Gorner’s smile was getting wider. A big play came up for the panthers with just over 8 minutes remaining, as they had to go for a 4th & 3. The Chargers defence surprised QB Delhomme as they produced a weakside blitz from their Linebackers, a play that was only called twice. Delhomme was hurried and his pass knocked down. The Chargers took over possession in good field position, but they went 4 & out, but did punt well and move the Panthers way back. On their first possession, Delhomme was again hurried, and sacked for the safety. 18-0 down and only 7-minutes remaining, surely this was the end of Nick Simms’ dream! To rub salt into the wound, RB Chatman ran the ensuing kick off back 40-yards, and again set up good field position for the Chargers. 4-minutes later and Flutie found TE Stephen Alexander from 7-yards out for the TD. 25-0 up and only about a minute left; Coach Sims on the sideline looked like a man who had just had surgery without anaesthetic: shocked and pained beyond belief. As Gorner relished in a Gatorade shower the Panthers did finally get on the scoreboard as Delhomme found WR Steve Smith from 19-yards out. Not many of the Chargers bench actually saw this as they were celebrating their Superbowl win and the most impressive season of any coach in recent NFLAY memory, from 0-6 as the Seahawks to the Superbowl champion Chargers a relocation and coaching change later.
