Reports from Arizona state that the Cardinals Head Coach, currently on a three week vacation, is considering retiring.

The veteran coach will be 51 during the next season and staff from the Cardinals front office were saying that he was now contemplating retirement, following the failure to reach the NFLAY Superbowl, saying he was too old to compete with the younger coaches in the league.

Coach Thorp-Potter was not available for comment.

Aww Mike, you don't wanna go retiring from Gameplan, you're an ace coach and one I am still looking forward to playing in C and AY!  Hopefully this is just a gut reaction to a playoff defeat, and you'll remember all the reasons you love this game including the rivalries and the camaraderie, and the satisfaction you get from a well thought out gameplan that goes exactly to plan in a big game against a top opponent...hang on in there mate!

Philadelphia's Lord Mayor immediately made a statement in support of the move, stating family was an important consideration for any parent, in cities where football isn't a major consideration.

Mike - I think you should commit yourself to AY until we've had a chance to play that Jets-Cardinals Superbowl that everyone's been waiting for! That should keep you here for a while!
http://www.users.on.net/~acoombe/rofl.gif
I think it'd be a shame for you to leave now TBH - with the imminent departure of Coach Sims, there'll be something of a power-shift in the NFC, with the Falcons, Eagles and your Cardinals the favourites to take advantage.

What are your plans for C by the way?

Say it ain't so Mike?! From a purely selfish pov I was really looking forward to playing you in AY and C this season as I've heard great things of your GP, but also you add so much to the chat on this forum. If you decide to go best wishes for the future but I sincerely hope you stay on in gameplan land.

Cheers,

Martyn

I'll add my voice to those wishing you to stay Mike. But I'm away for four months in euroland next year and may consider retirement for a while at least myself.

You should be careful folks, it sounds like Danny doesn't let people leave and return to the same league.

I think he just doesn't let people leave and then join a different team in the same league, unless it's been a while since they left. Of course, there's no guarantee that your team wouldn't be taken by someone else if you left ...

Danny will always let you leave a league and return to the same team at a later date, I have done this myself with both the BX Rams and AR Browns. What he won't do is keep a team open for you to return to, or let you rejoin a league as a different team until you've been gone for quite a while. Don't know how long exactly, it seems to differ from case to case. In Paul's case I would top up on my credits before the trip to Europe if you want to ensure you are still in AY when you return down under.

Cheers,

Martyn

I can have one of my assistant coaches check up on Minnesota while you are away Paul, in many respects you and I run similar philosophies so he should be up to speed in a short time and make sure your boys don't slack off in their training while you are away!

ahuh. Might need to find a non-conference assistant! Don't want those Eagles to slip by.

I'll probably top-up but it is going to mean writing off a large chunk of gameplan. It'll be hard to keep a handle on things as I bum around the UK and Europe.

Many thanks for all your kind comments.

After a restful and thoughtful break, I am pleased to announce that I am continuing at the helm of my Cardinal franchise for another season at least.

My enthusiam for NFLAY has been refreshed and I am raring to go - I couldn't possibly let the Eagles have an easy run to the division title!!

As I may have already mentioned, last year I set my goal to win the East everything else would be gravy, well you denied me that as we both finished 13-3. This year I have a new goal, to sweep the cards.
Its on!
Now I'm not out infront, you are the one with the target on his back let the games begin!

Let the games begin indeed Alex!

As usual I am looking forward to our battle for the title and have already booked the flights to Philly for week 5.

Our rivalry is a big part of the enjoyment of playing in this league and probably keeps both of us on our toes.

I never like to rest on my laurels, win or lose, I like to change things around each season.  So there will be a new offensive gameplan for this season, whether it will be as potent as last seasons is yet to be seen, but I will stick with it for the whole season whatever the results.

I have a simple goal for every season - win every game!

I have yet to achieve that, but there is always a first time for everything!

So, there may be a target on my Cardinal back, but it will be a moving one, albeit probably very slowly!!

I tried that my first year, I went 8-8, just! LOL!
http://www.users.on.net/~acoombe/salut.gif

I love how the two best coaches in the NFC (going by last year's record) are in the same div, every game against the Cards is treated like a Championship game in philly!
http://www.users.on.net/~acoombe/football.gif
If we split games we might both go 15-1 this year, that'd be sweet, or tie them both and go 14-0-2
http://www.users.on.net/~acoombe/rofl.gif

Realistically though, a winning record and aplayoff place will amke me happy this year, the competition just keeps getting better and better in the AY.
Least I'm not carrying 4 rookies this year and putting all my training itno rookies, hoping to make our first formidable playoff run this year, but have to beat the Cardinals first.
