As if the AFC West wasn't wild enough, with the stalwart Chiefs owning the division title lately (and securing it again this week), the unstoppable Chargers, led by the only coach in the league who holds an AY Superbowl ring- Paul GOZ Gorner, are quite comfortable doing the wildcard thing (it is the wildwest div after all, and that's how they won their superbowl 2 years ago).

Well now we have new blood out west. Recent aquisition Robert Phillip scared the chiefs this week and only some desperate defensive scoring gave KC enough points to win this week, spurring coach Dave FLES Flesfader to change the official sideline attire for staff to brown trousers. 3 points is all that seperated the Mighty AFC-best Chiefs and the lowly 2-12 Broncos.

You used to be able to count on the Raiders to fill that spot in the division between the top tier teams and the bottom, that team that always manages to get a great draft from about pick number 10, but never does all that well, just accumulating star players through the draft and waiting for the day a new coach comes in with some fresh ideas.
I've got bad news for you guys in the Wild West- the 2007 Superbowl champs have a new coach in charge. Queenslander Andrew Risson steps into the top job in Oakland intime to sculpt his squad during the offseason (thanks to a top 5 pick most likley) and try to sort out a gameplan in the 6 or so weeks before his first AY season starts.
Which way will Risson go with his team, will he keep with the recent tradition of establishing a powerful defence (god knows you need it out west with the Chargers), will he return to the heyday of the Raiders and feature a deep passing game that won them the superbowl, or does his gameplan heritage in Australian leagues leave him more disposed to the run-first offence of other Aussies like Coombe, Salmon, Flesfader and DeKievit? The sky is the limit for the silver and black, with a long interesting road ahead of them, plenty of time to sort out a style and a strategy to make a move upward in their division.
One thing is for sure, the Wild West just got wilder!

A warm welcome to Andre Rison WR from the Atlanta Falcons. Sorry its Andrew Risson, from Queensland!

Good to have you on board and now we have someone to keep those Chiefs and Chargers honest.

Welcome aboard, really a great pleasure to have you in the league, we all hope your stay is a long and happy one.

Tom, l agree, for too long the Chiefs and Chargers have had easy games in Denver and Oakland the party is over, they are now living back in the wild wild west, that's what gameplan is about the fortnightly battle, why would you actually want to leave a league and division like that, it's beyond me? As a coach that is what we want, a full competitive league here it is, take it and embrace it...

Could the AFC Division of Death title be heading West?!

Might be Jon, if GOZ leaves the building though, it will weaken the west, l hope he stays. Andrew Risson is a great coach, l am glad he is representing the AFC.

Greetings all!  1st post here, thought I might thank you guys for welcoming me to the AY.  Looking forward to being in a league with a decent amount of people in.

Good time to join, just before the draft.  Going to wait until the offseason to reconstruct my roster and gameplan to my liking.  Have some new ideas already. I've been in a couple of other leagues (NFLGA) and I recognize a few of the names in this one......

Because of the changes in GB (many coaches leaving) I was going to stay on in that league, but it looks like there will be nobody there now, which means I more or less will be staying with AY for another season at least!

Great news Goz ... although why I'm saying that when you keep pounding my Jets into the dirt, God only knows!  http://www.users.on.net/~acoombe/frustrated.gif
And welcome to Andy - that's one tough division you've landed in there, so I hope you're as good as Norm says!  http://www.users.on.net/~acoombe/thumb%20up.gif

Goz, ditto Jon, glad to hear that you are sticking around. The league would be lesser for it if you had left.

Maybe next season you will complete the tipping competition as well!!
