I have had my first taste of the new version's player cull in the BN that Goz is also in.  I am most interested to see how the Buccs fared Goz?
I know a few Ay lads may have already gone through the new changes in other leagues, but i thought i would share a bit of stuff with the others that haven't.

My BN Dolphins finished the season with a massive 79 squad levels and 23 LP's, however things have changed big time for the Fins.  At the start of the draft round we look like this-

BN Dolphins 64 Lps

RETIRED- 2 players worth 7 strengths total
REDUCED- 2 players worth 5 strengths
STEP LOSSES- 9 players for 9 strengths
CFA's- 5 players for 12 strengths
total safe- 48

I had two rookies gain a strength each.

But as you can see they have been big changes, but i gte the feeling i have got off fairly lightly to be honest.  After the draft i think i will be around 57-60 squads, so still quite decent.  I can only gather the squad will further whittle down until an average median level??

I must say I am personally in favour of the cuts, the squad totals were getting a little on the crazy side, and this opens some roster holes.  I think with the smaller squads i will probably have more affinity with some of the players, as with the old squad it was hard to like a certain LB when there was 4 x 3* LBs on a team.  May sound a little crazy but some of my biggest enjoyments with teams over the years was with certain players that gacve my team's characters.  i am sure a few others probably feel the same.  Enough of my rambling! http://www.users.on.net/~acoombe/salut.gif

The Ay's last offseason was under 2.17 cull heavy rules too though wasn't it, I mean it had CFAs and unsigned rookies, conditional waivers and such...

The past offseason has the CFA's etc, howver the big push to cut back rosters hasn't been scene in the Ay yet.  My BN Dolphins are in the range of 20 squad strengths down on last season, and that is taking in forecasting in LP's in the first 10 weeks and some draft trading down.  I imagine other teams may not have been so unlucky, unless it is a more gradual thing.

Oh, I thought all this was built in together. The CFAs being a new thing added to reduce roster sizes by making more players per team leaving unless KPs are spent on them...
I assume then that shortly after the AY offseason the game was reprogrammed to increase the number of retirements step losses CFAs reductions and reduce LP compensation and draft quality (or some combination of factors?

I was hoping that we hadn't had it so they would be hacked up even more. It didn't seem too bad to me, I lost 3 DRO steps, had a 1 point WR retire, a Ol retire and a 2 point RB retire (like my offence needed that!) and on CFAs only let one 2point LB go, and axed a 1 point ORO BQ. Oh and only 2 players were reduced.
Do coaches get bonus points when they join a team? If so this would explain why the Eagles weren't hit hard as I took over in week 17 and had a bunch of LPs, about 70 or 80 I think...

Maybe the team had been coachless for a while and accumulated a bunch of LPs waiting for me when I arrived.

I would love it if rosters were down to abouyt 20, 30 or 40 strengths, you'd really have to think hard about what you wanted, imagine if squads were only about 20 and you had a stacked D line... or WR corps... or a 6 point QB....

lt will be interesting to see how far the get chopped, l think you can still work weaknesses if you try hard enough.

If the AY got the chop last season, my BN dolphins must have been hunted and culled not by the PBM computer but by eager Japanese whale/dolphin fisherman in the name of research! http://www.users.on.net/~acoombe/frazzled.gif
