Instant messages can be sent between persons who are currently online.
These messages appear as a popup window in your webbrowser program (Internet explorer, netscape navigator, mozilla firefox, opera etc).
Most browsers and some other programs like norton internet security have options to block popup windows as they are usually advertising, and sometimes porn etc.
You may need to open your browser's options and allow popups from this website to be opened or maybe even stop popup blocking all together. The first option should work fine.

am getting messages but dont know a lot about computers (wifes kids do most of set up)but i seem to have to do something or press something to get messages and i'm not sure what it is

seem to come up after pressing enter or send your message (not sure yet?

At the top of your screen what does it say?
Something like this:
Forum NFLAY gameplan league website - Microsoft Internet Explorer
after the name of our forum will be lister the name of the program. ie in this case Internet Explorer.
