Poll :
Should they change the rules?

Good addition that teams would use
Good addition but teams may take the safer option & punt
No thanks, keep it at 3 points!
Forget it, my team is too good to have to worry about 50+ yard FGs

Not sure how many of you may follow the NFL Europe league (or pro-German league for us disgruntled Claymores fans), but I was watching a game on NASN late last week which was being covered by the NFL Network.  I can’t remember who the commentators doing the play-by-play were, but they made a very interesting point.

They were discussing the rule that in the ‘European’ league, a Field Goal of 50+ yards gets you 4 points, instead of the 3 in the NFL.  They mentioned that this was a great idea & one of the rules they’d instantly add to the NFL, as many teams don’t even attempt 50 yard field goals now!  I've got to say that I couldn't agree more but cant see it happening...

What do you guys think - would this be a good addition to the NFL rules?

Andy Reid and David Akers would definately love that addition, it would make possession more interesting as then 2 FGs could = one TD

People mention not wanting FGs, but when its 4th down in FG range what is the alternative?
If I could manufacture TD drives I would, most of them fall short and nessessitate the left boot of Akers- if I had a choice course I'd go for the TD, LOL!
