I know I'm not in the league but interesting thread.

I'm 33 and have lived in the Stoke-on-Trent since I was 5, just a few miles from theme park, Alton Towers.  Prior to that was in Wrexham, North Wales so I am actually a Welshman!  Only other break from Stoke was 3 years in Leicester where I went to University.

Lived a couple of streets away from where soccer manager David Pleat was arrested for kerb-crawling when he was Leicester manager.

Such a tiny country and you live in the same place most of your life, do you ever feel the need to roam?
Or to head out into the wide open spaces? (assuming there are some somewhere in Britain?).

Ian, I went to Leicester Uni as well and probably around the same time as you (I'm 34). What were you studying?

I was also playing Gameplan while I was there, before dropping it to study for my finals (although fat lot of good that did me!) and only returning to the game a couple of years ago.

Wasn't Pleat Spurs manager when he got caught kerb crawling?!? Or did he continue his interesting hobby in the Midlands? Highfields, where I lived in my final year, would have been a prime hunting ground for the old perv!

Jon,

Could well have been same time.  I took a year out after A Levels before going to Uni.  'Srudied' History because I'd always been good at it rather than any great interest.

It was good old Highfields where Mr Pleat was caught kerb-crawling!  Interesting place - we used to borrow the girls rape alarms (not 'cos I thought I'd get raped or anything but did worry about getting my head kicked in).  I lived on the outskirts of Highfields in Evington for first 2 years - fond memories.  Went a bit posh for my final year and moved out of the City to Wigston.

Kind rgds, Ian

Have to admit similar reasons for taking maths!
Sounds like you were at least a year below me. Don't suppose you knew Brummie Pete (red hair and .. erm .. a Brummie!) - he was in the year below me and I'm fairly sure he was doing History.

It certainly had a bit of a reputation (probably still has), but I have to say I never had any problems while I was there ... although some kids did once firebomb an abandoned van right outside our house!!  http://www.users.on.net/~acoombe/shock.gif

Brummie Pete doesn't ring any bells Jon!!

We never had any major problems either.  Biggest problem we had in Evington was some young asian kids over the road peeing up our front window in the middle of the morning one day.  I used to work in a mental hospital so behaviour like this isn't as abnormal to me as it might be too others!!
