while partaking in my particular poison i.e shiraz and going to sleep only for the wife (god bless her sole) to start snoring after one of her favourite poisions this time chardonnay as opponosed to the other method champa's got me to thinking (knowing i had a nflc game coming in the morning) what a wonderful bunch of eccentric bods we are (even us aussies or puesdo aussies in my case)playing this game of gameplan we are a dying breed which is an absolute shame as this game is so great and with a population of multi billion around the world we are a few that hold the flag for this great game like how bizzare is this world (or us) i feel honoured to know all those that contribute to this forum and look forward to this game resurecting from the ashes (not a cricket term or none intetented as i'm not even that interested in cricket beig a kiwi and all)so just the shiraz talking my friends fair well and good health to all that read this garbage

Seriously though, it is a shame that more people don't play this game - I guess in these days of online games and instant gratification, it's very much a "minority interest"! That's why AY is such a great league, with so many teams coached, long term (friendly) rivalries being formed and plenty of banter on the forum. Must say, god bless Martyn's cotton socks, a few nice guinness on a cold winters night brings a tear to the eye.  Must say wine is just not my bag, but i do love to taste the amber/tar stuff from all over the world.

This Gameplan is fantatsic, still after all thses years.  So much so that with my oldest lad's birthday coming up next week, its finally time for him to become a man, well a Gameplan man.  Yes, the second generation Flesfader will enter the realms of the NFLGB to cut his teeth.  its indeed a proud moment for this old warrior!

That's great news, Fles. While I love taking on some of the grizzled veterans () of the game, such as yourself, Norm, Goz etc., it's always good to see new blood coming into the game. Hopefully he'll take to it and we can welcome him into the AY one day. If he's as good as his dad, maybe he could take on the poisoned chalice of the Rams or 49ers in the Division of Death!

At 6? Shouldn't you start with tic tac toe or checkers dave? LOL!

He has already been playing the basic games for a while.  he loves playing Test Match cricket vs me already, and is showing ability.

He is a real beginner, knows a few of the main positions and has a basic gyst for the game.  He loves watching it with me, so why not try the great game.  When he was my age i always wanted to play with my dad's naval wargames but was never allowed becuase of the potential to lose pieces and not understand the rules.  Wished my dad had of showed me some of the basics then, would have been fun.  Tom may lose interest but happy to give him a chance with his dad's help!

 

just wondering whether danny will let him play in the same league as you though fles as he wouldn't let me and jan both play in the ay and the only reason we both have names in the gb is that we both joined while norm was still running it and danny inherited it

Well Alan and Gordon Milnes both play in the same leagues, and in the past Mark Dixon and his wife Sarah both played in BX, so I can't see why Danny won't allow 2 Fles's or 2 Salmon's in the same league!? I also know of brothers playing in the same ...
