Jon, Would be great to have you on board as part of the Gameplan Baseball fraternity. A league probably with some free teams that has run today is MLB5. I'm in the league though my team is no great shakes at all. The game is one that is more about long-term development and slow improvement rather than immediate gratification than you can get in Gameplan. I would highly recommend joining the Gameplan Baseball Yahoo Group (equivalent of the gameplan one). Lots of general gossip, comment, etc but also tips and guides and stuff in the files section to help. Friendly group where people will always offer honest friendly advice on how they see the game (and a lot of different approaches). Some names that you may know from Gameplan (Sim, Denyer, Trice, Dilworth, Bradbrook, Patrick Lee and others). There are probably 3 or 4 of the 24 teams free in MLB5. In most of the other leagues there are only 1 team free or actually none at all. Would be good to have you on board. Kind rgds, Ian |

Cheers Ian. If you could let me know which teams you think are free in MLB5, then I can put them as my preferences for Danny. I had a quick peek at the Yahoo Baseball group and see that the league's just gone into the draft - shame I didn't think of this a few weeks earlier! I like the way GP Baseball sounds like a good contrast with Gameplan (not that I'm tiring of Gameplan, just that it's always nice to have a bit of variety). Another contrast appears to be the lack of uncoached teams! Must be a good sign that so many people keep playing the game (although also possibly a sign that there are too many Gameplan leagues and perhaps too few GP Baseball leagues). Anyway, that's enough waffling from me - look forward to crossing swords (/bats?!) with you in MLB5. --Last edited by Jon G on 2006-08-18 22:38:58 --

Difficult to be certain and probably not many teams uncoached. Possibles are Florida, New York Mets, Pittsburgh, Boston and Detroit. We've just had the first round of the draft. You never know, if you ask Danny nicely he might let you join up straight away so you can be part of the 2nd round? All these teams are amongst the worst 9 in the league so picking high in the draft. Would be good to have you on board. Kind rgds, Ian |

would'nt worry missing the 2nd round of the draft john as you don't really get any starters anyway, played gameplan baseball for a few years so know how it works though won't be returning as prefer gameplan and have my hands full with that

Thanks for all your help, Ian. I've asked Danny for Boston, Florida, Detroit, Pittsburgh and NY Mets in that order. I also asked if I could be there for the 2nd round of the draft, but didn't push it (no reply as yet).

Will be good to have you on board Jon - in 2nd round of draft or later. Once you're in, feel free to ask any questions you want on the Yahoo forum or by email. Kind rgds, Ian |

Well I'm in but not until next turn. Hopefully the computer will draft someone useful for my new team.

Just thought, with Danny extending his "get startup & 2 turns for free on new games" promo into February (see turnsheets for details), some of you might fancy giving Gameplan Baseball a try. It's quite a different experience to Gameplan with the emphasis much more strongly on team-building rather than on-the-field tactics, but Danny's offer would give you a chance to see if it's for you without shelling out any hard-earned cash (providing you play by email of course). I've been playing the game a good few months now and the fact that I've now joined a 2nd league as well is a mark of how much I'm enjoying it ... and I'm not even a baseball fan! Anyway, sales pitch over! Maybe I'll see some of you at the ballpark (Baseball-ese for "stadium"! --Last edited by Jon G on 2007-02-23 02:00:16 --

Just continuing Jon's sales pitch, it would be great if some of you had a dabble at the baseball. 9 leagues to choose from, all with the vast majority (all in some cases) of teams managed. I'm in 5 leagues, there are some in as many as 8 if you want testament to how good the game is. Also, a Yahoo forum that is more civilised, sensible (and active!) than the Gameplan equivalent. |

Sounds good, but I don't need another distraction, trying to get some more workl done on my thesis! Maybe later, good luck and have fun.
