From the pre-season reports I thought those Jags were going 16-0 this year! Right now those wagons are being drawn in a little closer and there is not quite so much talk around the camp fire as we have seen lately. The Browns dumped on the Jags 20-7 to remain on the top of the AFC central. Mike TPs Steelers edge the Bengals by a solitary point 17-16. They have no coach but the Bengals are a competitive unit. It will be interesting to see how the Jags go against them.... Chris Hatfield's Chiefs scalp Darrel Browns Raiders 38-12. They look to have the wild west under total control at 2-0. The 2 matches against Goz's chargers will decide who grabs the division. Speaking of Goz he bucked the Broncos off their saddle by 34-24. Are Marc's Broncos gone already? Mike Parr's Dolphins were clubbed by the prancing ponies in Indy 40-13. Mike wanted to mix with the best and now he gets the opportnity to host the SB losers who are also fighting for their life. A win here would get the 'fins back on track in a black and blue division. The Jets crash and burn against the much hyped Bills of Alan Baylis. An even 300 yards in the air ripped the Jets secondary to pieces. The Jets host Martyn's Browns who look formidable on paper and have played to match their roster this season and now sit at 2-0. The Browns are my early pick to represent the AFC this year.

Nice one Tom, hard to get too excited when only you and l turn up here. That will change l am sure once we get the new forum meeting place up and running in the next few weeks l birdy num num told me. Jags going along nicely, if we are 2-3 watch out. Martyn played well, but 7-6 top of the 4th it's anyones game, that should tell you the Jags are on the edge, one more coaching we need to help the style of defence we are playing. Jets, you must be worried at this stage, l think the honeymoon is over, the once high flying Jets are now low flying out of Essendon Airport. Miami got a touch up, l think Mike will have his hands full, you have a challange on your hands Mike, l am sure you like it take some moonshine and go to work.

So far happy in Cleveland, everything going to plan behind our giant OL - just as well becuase our QB still sucks! I agree Norm that fumble of yours last play of the 3rd was the real turning point of the game, and the 3rd down penalty in my favour at 45:49 was a lucky break for me, when I saw that match up I thought "Damn, have to settle for another FG!". Overall I think we deserved the win, but it was closer than the 20-7 scoreline suggests and I was glad I got that second TD so soon after the first to put my nerves to rest! As for Browns for the SB, I doubt it Tom, especially if I have to get past Danny Slavin to get there, I have NEVER beaten him in gawd knows how many attempts, he just has my number. And I'm yet to make an SB in advanced, if this was basic I'd say write my name on the Vince Lombardi trophy now, but advanced I'm never confident and won't be until I do win that first SB in C, AY or AR. Playing you twice then in two weeks Tom, AY and AR - I don't know about you but I hate it when I end up playing the same coach more than once in a week, really screws my head when planning as both games seems to merge together. I tell you what, let me win AR and AY and I'll buy you a pint next time I see you at a pub meet, OK?! --Last edited by Martyn Williams on 2007-07-06 08:53:03 --

Martyn, agree very tight close game, l don't think many defences out their will be able to hold the Browns OL, the Jags are D heavy not many others are they are all pass O heavy. l think you can go 13-3, but l hope it's 9-7 that way the Jags have a shot at the title. As for other coaches having the wood on you l don't buy it, you can turn the corner, you must be able to nut out why they keep beating you this roster you have is very powerful you have to make it count.

Steelers pleased to notch up their first win, even if it was only by 1pt against an uncoached(?) team! Defence played well and will be reinforced further for next week, which will be a big ask against the Colts, but looking forward to the challenge. Offence still trying to find their right formations but pleased with the pass completion % and the run average to date. Definitely have Martyn's Browns to beat to win the division and will be trying to do just that!

Martyn, I'll do a deal with you. You can have the AY win (which you desperately need to secure the division), while I need an AR win to stay in touch. Sounds fair to me. As for a pub meet, well it's been 20 years since I was last in England, although I do have a sister working in London. If you ever come to Australia feel free to drop in for a cold one or three.

I did post a minute ago, but I'm not sure if it's up in smoke or there's a delay.. Anyway, it's nice to see my name crop up on here a few times. Martyn, I also like to see that it seems to stick in your craw that you haven't registered an elusive win against the Slav-man ;-) Your time will come, no doubt, as it's surely just a fluke/statistical anomoly that you haven't beaten me already! |
