Great game Sam, always bad to lose, the good news is you are still in the wild card hunt as are the fins. The bad news you have to beat the Texans. Not sure about your thoughts, but at the 53 minute mark 16-0 l was not sure how you were going to actually get close enough to the endzone to score. Our only turnover did the trick. You did pull a new rabbit out of the hat which l thank you for. As coaches get more desperate they do more desperate things, l am exactly the same when facing a match which looks like it's going to be tough. l am always trying to work out what someone might do in total desperation, and then decide if the gameplan will hold up. l think you gave me another method to attack the Colts offence as Mike Parr did as well, again l thank you both. Despite some very desperate moves l still felt the colts offence did what it had to do, but saying that l will consider a slight modification in one or maybe two lines to compensate for desperation moves. Again l want to thank you for a wonderful match, l really do think you have done very well with the roster you have. When l looked at your roster l was amazed you had actually won 9 games, the roster is still in need of work. l'd say you will be a force once your roster develops. Good luck in week 16 the Texans are a hell of a unit.

Norm, I put most of the effort into stopping the passes to the TE and the running game as was trying to prevent you from controlling the clock and forcing my offence to play catchup. That didn't work too well as you had the ball for 34 mins and managed to keep my offence scoreless until the game was pretty much over. When we finally scored and reduced the margin to 16-8 we fumble a punt return giving you the ball back on our 27 and you manage to score a FG effectively ending the game. Then again if we had managed to pull off a win after doing nothing offensively for the first 54 minutes, that would have been a massive injustice. The roster is definitely a work in progress (particularly the running game) but is gradually getting to what I want. Another offseason of tweaking and might be able to compete more consistantly against the big guns next season. Wk16 at the Texans needing a good win.... --Last edited by Sam on 2007-06-14 12:00:12 --

l still think you put together a great gameplan, especially on defence, in fact l have just made the slight modifications to the offence to stop such a late turnover possibly having a major effect on a result. l have you to thank for that, as l said you did come with another approach and l really do thank you for that. No one has tried that, and Mike tried something new as well last time we met, which no one had tried. Both these matches have helped us get ready for anything that might happen. l am sure the Dolphins will be bringing something new as well, and again l hope they can find a crack in the colts horse shoes, better to find it now than in the playoffs. We fumbled once and recovered it, you fumbled three and recovered two, those where critical especially the back to back fumbles which you both recovered at the 85 yard line. We are good for a FG at least there with an option for more. All in all l think is was a very tight game, old fashion stuff in a way which is really what l prefer, l love to see defence push the offence around and control the game. l do really really love my current defence in all teams, it is very very hard to move against, since l put it in, it's just dominated offences. lf the defence can keep the opponent down to under two TD's the colts are a real chance to win it. Gameplan can be alot like poker in terms of injustice, however if you play a low risk offence, you can cut down the number of injustices that can happen during the course of a season. l think Alex AY Eagles are another fine example of that, as are my Colts. You are in a tough division, Mike, Chris and you, not sure about Jags if they are alive, but the other two are quality coaches and teams which means you will always have your hands full. Best of luck for week 16, you will need to bring it against the Texans. --Last edited by STORMIN on 2007-06-14 16:31:20 --

Maybe the most significant result of the week is the shock victory for the Bills over the Chargers. This now means the Colts will probably get HFA, and in the Divisional Round my Texans will have to go to the Chargers in a rematch of last season's AFC Championship game...well I guess if you are going to win the Superbowl you need to beat the best teams..

Geez this advanced game can take a lot out of you. I’d never imagined there would be so much prep time involved and I’m starting to think if I have made the right choice in joining Advanced too. Just when you finally thought your gameplan was “error free” and your reading it in GpvCon and A SW pops up again, when this time, you intentionally left it out for “debugging” purposes. As for the game itself…it answers a poll I posted recently on the forum with regard to special teams and how coaches valued them. Midway through the 4th quarter leading 21-17 we turned the ball over deep in Pats territory. The Pats next drive stalled and lost yardage and for the second straight week we got pinned at our 2-yard line by an 85-yard punt and failed to get out of our own end. We then had to rely on the leg of our own punter who managed a booming 22 yarder with 3 yards taken back. Total turnaround for those two possessions in terms of yardage was +50 to the Pats. My opinion of ST has changed dramatically because of this game and I’ll need to address this in the off-season, assuming a contract extension is forthcoming. Anyway its not an excuse… couldn’t run out the clock and we sucked on ST …more gutted than anything else because of the playoffs, unrealistic shot I know, are well and truly gone now.Time to sweet talk the fat cats in the GM's office I reckon.

Norm, I try to be different/unorthodox to keep the opposition on their toes. Sometimes it can come back and bite me on the butt.

Jay, starting out is hard in advanced, if you have questions any of has can help, just post. l agree with special teams, colts FG 55 yarder and he can go longer, that is golden to this teams makeup. The punter pins em deep often to give the defence the whole field to defend it's been a monster reason for the teams success. Mike, agree, Bills shock win really, but cheques in the mail, cause home field with our special teams will be a monster advantage l hope one that will be too hard to overcome. Making a salad tosser offence have to march the whole field all day against our new defence will be very hard to do. Saying that we have to get past Miami, but l am sure the boys will roll over for a fellow aussie, cheques in the mail. 10 turn credits should do it right?

Not sure which Miami will turn up this week. The 24-12 score line vs the texans was very deceiving. A 102yd INT TD return will most definately come back to haunt you and that was basically the difference between the two sides. In a season where it is so tight and every point counts at the moment, it was a real killer blow for us. If the Fins can put it together, we will give a great shake this week, but consistancy is the key.

Goz, I know it might be hard to believe but sometimes the Broncs actually do make it out of the bus and eventually onto the Field. As do the Bills........

Dave, one thing is for sure, the stormin defence system, won't be giving you anything for free you will have to earn every yard yourself. l am sure Sam has already emailed our last game to Alex and you are busy trying to find a way to unlock it.

I wish! Sam doens't want us to win, he's only 1 point ahead of Miami in the 2nd wildcard place, if we win he might not make it to the postseason. Its a tough ask for Miami to win this one, the team owners are really putting the pressure on the coaching staff...

I'm counting on the Colts to win and the Bengals to cause a massive upset and finally defeat the Texans. Now is as good as time as any to crack the first win against the Texans.

The Detroit-Dallas game was pretty meaningless for both teams, but it was notable for me as being the first tied game I've ever taken part in, even though I'm no stranger to OT. Harking back to a thread started by Graham a while back, the Cowboys were within FG range in OT, but never took their shot at the posts (can't remember whether our D forced them back out of range or forced the TO). I guess this might be more common than I'd at first thought - I wonder if it might be a good idea to have a distance from which a team would ALWAYS attempt a FG in OT whatever down it was (either fixed or adjustable by the coach)?

There is the option to add a line to your offensive gameplan to keep it safe when in OT and you ain FG range so you don't get knocked back or throw a pick, something like htis this might do: OTKickFG 123 -1to1 1-99 1-FG 59-75 A RC (+whatever safe plays are good for your team) It'd be the next best thing to downing the ball and going for the FG. Basically you are just preparing for the FG, with a line like this you can be as safe as you want, wouldn't have to be just RC, you could tread the middle ground. I'm sure many teams have a "keep the ball safe at the end of the game" parameter or two, though I'm always surprised at how many teams come out in a D and toss the salad in the dying minutes when they have the lead, its won me more games than I can count.
