from memory the rulebook says to call a fake punt or FG on 4th down all you need to do is set up the paramater and call the formation, not plays, and the computer would probably go somehting like "Fake punt fails" I'd love to try it out one time. Check the rulebook to be certain of this...

I wouldn't call OP on a fake field goal because you don't have any WRs on the field. Otherwise, everything else looks OK. --Last edited by tom richards on 2007-06-19 18:30:17 --

It doesn't seem clear to me whether you actually call the plays, I thought it would be kinda automatic like the 2 point conversions, but rereading it makes me think that indeed you do need to call plays, man I'd expect plenty of potential for penalties on the offence/kicking team. But this must be why the P and F formations are listed in the form list, so you can call a play that suits the personel. I've never been a fan of the trickery aspect of 4th downs, for example in madden if its 4th and 4 from the 40 and I decide not to punt I'll come out in a normal formation and run a normal play. Code & Name QB OL RB WB TE WR Effectiveness & Comments F Field Goal 1 5 0 2 2 0 special teams, not including kicker P Punt 0 5 1 2 2 0 special teams, not including punter

First you must call the formation and then you have to call a play. I don't know what happens if you do not enter a play.

I gave FG and punt fakes a try-out in my first AY post-season and they were total rubbish! The vital drawback was that rather than calling FB or PR, the opposition called their D from their normal plan, i.e. from a non-formation specific 4th down line, which totally removes the fake aspect of the play and thus the reason for doing it in the first place. Maybe if you don't put down any plays (just F or P for formation), then the computer calls a generic fake play?!? Seems highly doubtful to me though!

i have been really busy lately and just had a quick look at the game where my rookie qb threw an int while at the 22yd line but i was very happy to get a tie and actually have hopesof making the bowl game my pick for the AFC is the colts and that is an exciting prospect to come up against my old gm and buddy and now co coach in the ar so the ugly boys are fired up and boy are they ready to turn from plain ugly to scary

think I recall seeing in the rulebook you HAVE to put in a play in box A. So what happens if you try to put P formation with PN in the A slot I wonder... Jon, I agree that is as absolute shithouse 4th down scheme, defence should be in standard PR/PB/PV FB or its just stupid~!!!

Good to see my ultra simple O (one formation, 4 plays...) and D (One line, 4 plays regardless of formation...) work so well against the Redskins, who I lost to twice last season! As Norm says, KISS! One more win and I'll have finished with a better record than last season, and have a bit of momentum heading into the playoffs - sweet...
