Alex/Dave, the Colts gameplan has just been entered into the softsim vault, this is a monster game, if the Colts win they get home field advantage all the way to the AFC championship game if they make it that far. The Bengals led the point spread against the Dolphins by just ONE point, how crazy would that be if that came back to bite the fins? lf both win or both lose that one point might be a factor in deciding who goes through, what a cruel blow. Of cause if one wins and the other loses it's the gin card. l am expecting some, as O'Ren Ishii and The Black Momba said "tricks are for kids". l think Sam's game bless his heart, thanks Sam, gave me another little scare in two areas, which l have now fixed for our game. l am hoping for a win, but l would prefer to lose now and find out another weakness in the gameplan before the sudden death starts, so bring it... l am expecting you to find a leak. l think we have everything covered but remember "tricks are for kids". l am sure you guys have been planning like never before and l hope you have been able to come up with a possible leak in the Colts saddle bags. What ever happens l am really looking forward to this match up, a great climax to a wonderful season. l will be online via skype late Wednesday night so once l get the email from Danny GM l will call you up for the first ever skype live reading! The only other game that counts this week in the AFC is of cause the Bengals who travel to the mighty Texans, the game means nothing to the Texans really, they cannot really drop from the divisional title, their point spread is far greater than the Browns the gap is too much to make up. The Browns have the first wild card and the Texans have the division and the Chargers have the other Division. The chargers point spread is greater than the Colts, if the colts lose they still win the division but they lose home field a massive blow. This is assuming the Chargers win against Denver, and last week showed us that anything is possible as the chargers went down to the Bills, a terrible blow for the bolts. Now home field for the chargers rests in Miami's hands, if the fins win the Chargers get home field if they also win. What a crazy end to the AFC playoff race. l will leave the NFC up to someone else, best of luck to all coaches, for week 16.

The gameplan is in and now awaiting the outcome. Hopefully is far more favourable then it has been the previous 3 meetings between my Bengals and Mike's Texans. Will be real tight to see who gets that final wildcard spot. Hoping that the Bengals reverse the previous performances against the Texans and play well enough to win and qualify. A win wouldn't even assure a spot anyway as we would still be hoping the Dolphins lose or if they win, their margin of victory is less then ours. Then again, the Dolphins and Bengals could both win and the Browns drop their game enough to let the Dolphins and Bengals both qualify (even though I doubt the Browns will drop their last game and both the Dolphins and Bengals win). Anyway, we will know soon enough. Mike, No mind games or anything here, the gameplan is in and heres to what hopefully turns out to be a good game. If the Bengals don't make the playoffs, hopefully we go out in a blaze of glory and set ourselves up for a run at the playoffs next season and the AFC Central title also. Norm, Glad to be of service, let's just hope that the next time we meet I can do more then just give you a few little scares, and give you one almighty game long nightmare that results in a Bengal victory. --Last edited by Sam on 2007-06-25 16:15:41 --

at the 11th hour Dave and I have decided we are really keen on salvaging the season by winning a playoff berth. Dave's defence is done and the dozens of plans that have been festering in my skull the last week will soon ferment into a bubbly brew of heady goodness. Phone off the hook tomorrow as the offence takes shape. Could be looking at a complete rewrite, just so nothing gets missed. alex

Sam, l am planning on really doing a serious job of roster building and maintaining in this league and l am now following suit in other leagues so l hope we can always stay ahead of the game, but l am sure your team will get much harder to penetrate as your roster improves. Alex/Dave, sounds good, looking forward to a cracker.

offence coming into shape, full rewrite it is, 7 lines using formations I've never used before, and the rest being tried and true Miami favourites, with a new subtle shift. Unless Dave's D has a bloody fantastic day I expect I'll be able to tell who will win by the end of the 1st quater, to see if the offence is working or not, could get messy after that if its not as the wheels start to come off. This is exactly what Miami's offence has been in my hands, unpredictable, varied and usually a sputtering mess- but its always fun to put together (fun is why I play in C) and hopefully it puts some seeds of thought into minds around the AFC and makes teams preping for a fins match think twice about what we'll do, the GP never stays the same for too long, though its current form has been fairly close tot he preseason plan for most of the season. The drinks are cold, the cards are dealt and Norm I think the Fins have a chance at an inside straight...

Plan is submitted....if I can stay with the bolts till the 4th I'd cosider it a huge success.

Gameplan is now in...since I don't have to win my matchup with the Bengals, I've taken the opportunity to prepare instead for my possible Divisional Round opponents the Chargers or Colts. I'm guessing Norm is doing the same, so I don't think the Dolphins or Bengals will gain an unfair advantage in their battle for the last playoff spot, so may the best team qualify!

Complete rewrite for Miami offence, just a few boxes changed on defence, Dolphins playing up for this game because we need to do really well to get to the playoffs, since we are currently 1 point behind in the race.

Same here...If the broncs can have in impact on the HFA situation then not really fair to use the game as an experimental one!

Jay, I don't want to stir up any controversy here (well OK, maybe a little! ), but when you say you're playing up, you do mean you're using the "UP" special action, right? If so, Goz might have some cause for complaint, as you really have no need to be, unlike the Fins! Anyway, the Lions aren't playing up for this game, but hopefully our plan will be good enough to hold off the Bears. I actually managed to spend a bit of time on the plan this week for the first time in a while, but from past experience I know that's no guarantee of success. --Last edited by Jon G on 2007-06-27 20:34:56 --

I thought about this, honestly, and figured how many times in real life have you seen one team with nothing or very little to play for against a team with it all on the line....and the underdog give it all for 4 quaters and sometimes manage an upset.....happens every season in both pro and college football. Not siding with any team (bolts or colts)nor have i hiding agendas. The decision to playup is mine and is not influence by either team but the fact that the Broncos still have a shout/impact on playoffs. I dont think its unsportsmanlike but if it upsets anyone else then I'm sorry....but it does go on in all facets of Real Life football. rgds, Jay

Playing UP, l myself would never play up in week 16, just to make the playoffs, but each to their own. The reason l would not is l think you might have a shot at winning the wildcard game but once you got to the divisional game with two ups under your bra strap against a team with zero, l don't think you have much chance. So what's the point? l found out on the day that Miami have decided to play up, again their decision, l do feel as above if they win, they won't go past the divisional game, l hope they prove me wrong. Jon G, as to your comments about GOZ l would pretty much agree with him if he was upset if he ends up losing as a result of someone playing up and he misses a shot at home field. l must admit, if l end up losing because Miami played up in week 16 and the Colts miss the chance at home field l will be pretty upset, because l don't think Miami can go past the Divisional game after the extra up in week 16. Lets face it you work hard to get a shot at home field, you don't know what the roster cuts are going to do to your team this might be your one shot at the bowl, and if you miss the home field because they played up for really what reason? l'd be pretty pissed, l'd get over it, but l'd say one think revenge is better served cold. l'm an elephant when it comes to remembering. l'd be looking to play up in week 16 against them anytime l thought l could stuff up there post season only because they did it to me. l say that because l saw Andrew J McDonald do it lots in NFLAA in oz and he always got knocked out either in the wildcard game or by the divisional game l just don't think it can realistically get you deep into the post season, so why do it? Best of luck to all coaches.

Only one reason, we were sure it was the only way we would get into the playoffs, we felt that if we didn't make into the playoffs the season would feel like a waste. Considering how soundly we stomped on the Browns earlir I think we have a fine chance of winning WC, and if we get to the Div round then we'll have a really hard game, but will give it our all and IMHO any game is only one good gameplan line away from a win, just got to do your homework and find something that will do a job for you- gotta be in it to win it, to not play up in week 16 thinking that it kills our chances in week 18 is a real pessimistic view in my books, "we can't win if we play up in week 16, so we might as well not try for the playoffs" LOL I think this is just like IRL where a team in a comfy spot, maybe resting a few guys plays a team on the cusp of playoff berth, knowing that they need other teams to loose to get in, and so they give absolutely everything they can jsut to get in. I don't think any game is ever unwinable, any gameplan or any roster- there's always a way around it, there's always a chance of a blocked punt return early, or finding a hole in a defensive gameplan like the one we discussed last night. I'll never give up my chips, not until the last card has been played and if we took a little money of yours out of the pot Norm then that's just variance! ![]()
