http://www.users.on.net/~acoombe/football.gif  WHOOOO HOOO!!!

Fins are in the playoffs, with everything on the line we played up and despite 2 gameplan input errors managed to grab a strong win over the Colts. The extra power of the up really won the game, turnovers and execution on bad matchups won the game for us and there was nothing Norm could have done better to stop it, the 3 of us had a great 2 hour live read using SKYPE's internet telephony- its a great tool for gameplan check it out in stadium management section.

So we're going to the playoffs!

Bengals lose well against the Texans. Never in it and not good to end what was a promising season so poorly. Decided to play hard on defence for this game to try and get to the ball carrier earlier and possible create some turnovers but all it did was allow for 393 pass yards and 3 TD's. We did get 2 intercepts but we allowed 20.7 yards a catch which is terrible. Our offence was once again poor and hopefully the new starting QB will fix some of that and another season in the Chillari gameplan will bring some consistancy to the bengals.

Well done to Mike for once again showing how well coached and overall strong team the Texans are. Deserved champions of the Central and good luck in the playoffs.

Well done to the Dolphins for a solid victory over the Colts. I don't think anyone would have picked that result, maybe a Dolphins win but not the margin of victory.

Congrats to the division winners; Colts, Texans and Chargers and the wildcard teams; Browns and Dolphins and good luck to all in the playoffs.

Now it is time for the Bengals management to sift through the carnage of the Texans game (once again!) and see what needs to be done for next season to be more of a threat in the central and to make the playoffs.

Alex/Dave, congrats on the win.

l think you said it all in your piece. l don't think l have ever seen the team perform that badly and considering our conservative style of play calling, the turnovers in our deep back half and two shanked punts which led to scores and the matchups we got on your defence which just did nothing, l can only think UP was a major factor.

l still think you played a great game, l would not have expected any less from you guys l think you both have a great understanding and knowledge of gameplan. Both defences made critical plays at important times.

l only wish we played the game on a level playing field.

l agree about the skype it really was a winner on the night, l highly recommend all coaches to get it, and any time you are playing me l'd be happy to have a live skype reading.

Well done on making the playoffs, best of luck in the post season. l got this funny feeling, you are going to need it, but gameplan is a funny beast and l hope you prove me wrong and l end up sitting corrected.

Congrats to GOZ and also Chris H for winning their divisions, a bonus for you GOZ you get home field, l really think that is going to make you very hard to stop. l was counting on getting home field to have any chance against you if l get that far l think that will make the task all the much harder. Well done Chris H l great season first up would not expect anything less of you. Mike Parr congrats as well on the division, a super season.

Bad luck Sam, l think l mentioned l really thought you did a great job with the roster you have this season, you will get bigger and stronger next season.

To all other coaches a great season and we all have to work our magic on the draft.

Oh yeah! The Lions are kings of the NFC Central jungle once again - hear them roar! That's right up there with shutting out the Redskins as our best ever performance in C.
http://www.users.on.net/~acoombe/football.gif

This was just the kind of game I needed to put a smile back on my face after getting absolutely robbed of my 100% record in NFLD (I'm thinking of calling in the police!). When I turned to my C game and Harrington got sacked and fumbled away the ball on the very first play, I really feared it was going to be one of those days, but starting with holding the Bears to a FG, things got a hell of a lot better after that!

I guess this has convinced me of the need to spend more time on my plan and a result like that should hopefully give me more enthusiasm for the task. If not, at least I've now got the Wild Card week to recharge my gameplanning batteries.

Much appreciation to the Cardinal this week, as he came desperately close to giving the Lions HFA, only succumbing to the Redskins in OT. Mike's fine results against the top NFC teams this year (including victories over 2 division leaders - my Lions and Martyn's Rams - and a near hat-trick with the Redskins this week!) make me think that the Cardinals will be a real handful next season and make the NFC East the division to watch.

Very surprised to get probably my most comprehensive victory of the season in a game where I was actually doing all my planning for potential future opponents!  Shows how much I know about this game!
http://www.users.on.net/~acoombe/smile.gif
Nevertheless it's always a good sign to finish the regular season with a big win over a good quality opponent, so things are looking a little more promising for this team than they did a few weeks ago when I was losing to the Colts and the Redskins...

Although it's probably the last think he wants to hear, once again Sam's Bengals are the best team in the AFC not to make the playoffs...hopefully he will make it third time lucky next season, as long as it's not at my Texans expense!

1-6 against playoff teams, 8-1 v the rest.
http://www.users.on.net/~acoombe/blue.gif

need to find a far better balance against the playoff teams and continue my good run against the rest of the league to be a chance next season. improving the o-line and runners as well as the pass defence is the key or we will be looking at another lost season. just makes you more determined to get the formula right for the new season and make sure what has been started continues to improve.

Jon G, yes congrats great finish to the season for you, Lions roar again.

Mike, as per above Texans will be hard to stop, l'd say it will be a Texans at Colts for the Divisional game, should be a monster l hope we can hook up on skype for it?

Sam, l have to agree with Mike, your Bengals are the best team outside the playoffs, and on the rise.

Let's just hope that this time next season we are considered the best team going into the playoffs.
