Our cull was..
Reduced 16
Retired 0
CFA's 12
Step Losses 7
Step Gains 2
LP's 48

14th pick in the draft and some good looking draft picks for the offence and defence. The 4* LB's look good and if snag one the Bengals will become a 3-4 next season.

thankfully the Bengals have a 4*QB that will be waived to create some more options as our new Qb will be a 6*.

Wow to be honest this team got a real touch up a bit like a back packer in hostel. l am going to have to really decide which way to go next season, big decisions to be made.

In Detroit, the damage is:

Reduced 25
Retired 0
CFA's 14
Step Losses 6
Step Gains 1
LP's 56
Safe = 30

That seems pretty much in line with what Sam got. The number of reduced players is a bit of a worry, but the lack of retirements gives me scope to do some waiving to keep the players I want. I'll have to have a real think about how I want my team to look next season .. as I suspect will most of the league!

Hi guys. Apologies for not being around lately. Many reasons really! Too many to mention. Anyway, just a few notes before I mention the Chargers roster. About playing UP. I emailed Jay to say I was ok with it. Hey Norm, I told u we would get HFA!

Step Losses = 5 points
Retired = 5 points (2 players)
Reduced = 15 points
Step Gain = 1 point
CFA - 8 points
Losing Points = 108

Overall, pretty happy. I can replace the 2 players who retired pretty easily in the draft. I have enough Losing Points to fix most of the Step Losses and CFA.
The Chargers are here to stay!!!!

Greg, as long as you keep posting, cause l want to keep seeing those new baby cheerleaders. They are just angels.

GOZ, l am really glad you decided to stay in the league, it would have been a real sad day if you had of left. As for home field l don't think you had much to do with it, it's like Aces getting cracked by a pair of two's, it happens l know that cause it happens to be every day, but l think l got you and the texans covered. We will be on a level playing field in terms of UP skirts.  We get home field against the Texans that will be a real bonus for us, l expect to see you in San Diego for the AFC championship game.  http://www.users.on.net/~acoombe/rofl.gif

Goz, how the heck did you get all those Lp's? Did you have any left over from this season?  Pretty happy, i would be delighted!!!  Judging from what Norm said, the Colts were ransacked with little return.

I was quite pleased with the Fins offseason, better than expected. It really is a bit of a lottery but yoiu just have to love this part of the season.

Goz, great to see you staying on, would be a travesty to see you go from GP.  http://www.users.on.net/~acoombe/thumb%20up.gif

Great to have the master back any time you are available, you own this league as far as I can tell, seems like you are one of the hottest coaches in GP and we need you up there making us all look bad, sporting a large target on your backside encouraging us at the bottom to bring it.

Total cost to fix 5SLs and 8CFAs= 90LPs, well under the compo, so looks like a great offseason for the Mighty Chargers,

Great news Goz, you own this league and with an offseason like that looks like you'll continue to own it in the future too!

GO GOZ!!

Good to hear that you are staying with us Goz and how have you got so many losing points!!

This is what happened to the Cardinal squad:

Retired - 4 players/8 strengths

Reduced - 3 players/8 strengths

CFA's - 4 players/13 strengths

StepLoss - 6 strengths

LP's - 54

There will be at least 5 players being waived from the squad as the Cardinals try to save money on salaries, hoping to end up with a trim but competitve squad, ready to battle for last place in the division again!

Goz,

By the looks of the chargers offseason "cull" the Chargers might actually get stronger in the offseason.

I didn't have any left over. Maybe because of the 2 retirements I was compensated more. I always thought, the better season you had, the more you were penalised in the draft round, but that doesn't seem to be the case! Anyway, I agree, the Chargers will be stronger next season!

In Mile High:

RED :- 20
RET :- 1
CFA :- 12
S/L :- 7
S/G :- 1
COMP:- 100

Not sure if that is good/bad? Although left with a bit of a delema at QB.....QB 9yr 4* is reduced and looks likley to be having his last season....BQ 6yr 4* is CFA..any advice?

rgds,

Jay

You could let the backup go, use the point to fix SLs and other CFAs and draft a good QB 1st round to be your starter next year when/if the 9th year guy retires.

Or you could fire the statrter and use the points to fix the BQ CFA and other CFAs and SLs around your roster.

Fire them both, recruit more running backs and run forest run!

Dave, yeah we really got hosteled we lost three big time players to retirements, five CFA's all critical players and l have to waive one to actually afford to keep four of them, and all the step losses l cannot save, and they toss me 21 LPs, l feel raped, it's like an Amanda SAW trap, the chains one with the door welded shut, it looks like a way out but there is none.  l am still trying to find a way to get some kind of roster together.

Jay, l don't think you need two QB's l would keep the older one, age is massive at any key position.

Just finished the save the roster plan, well no wonder l got hosteled, after my wheeling and dealing, my offence will be the same overall squad strength and my defence will be FOUR overall squad strengths stronger than last season, wow am l looking forward to people moving the ball against me next season, it's a brutal overall strong defence no weaknesses, oh the pain Will Robinson.

Jay, personally I'd go with Al's Plan A - keep the older QB and waive the back-up. Then either draft a new BQ or get one through free agency. Or you could fix the old guy or even let him play reduced if you have to.

As for your other query, I think you've done pretty well out of the off-season ... although not as well as Goz has! I don't know about the rest of the league, but I'm really in fear of how good the Chargers are going to be next year. Champions the last 2 years and best record this year and now they seem to have got the best of the off-season cull as well - no fair!

I'm just glad I'm not in the AFC! http://www.users.on.net/~acoombe/smile.gif

Definately agree, Jon! Chargers are the only team I'll be scared of next year, they'll be like a probowl roster coached by the SB champ coach-scary.

My defence is 4 squad stronger than last season so l think we will be capable of holding him, don't know about the rest of you. You can always UP skirt!

the fins D is going up in 4 of 5 squads, one by 4, one by 1 2 by 2 and one going down by 2, so regardless of what dave does we might be able to keep up with them on offence for a change...

lf you cannot outscore them you have to be able to hold them, either way works, good luck to all in the draft season.
