got my number 1 choice of a LB. was also after one of the 4* LB's but will settle for the 3*LB. next up will be a go for a OL to fix an ongoing problem from last season.

Jay, As far as I am aware, the reason for trading down is that you can only waive draftees at the end of the draft, and at this point it is too late to fix your CFAs or step losses. So trading down gives you the extra LPs to save your players that you would otherwise lose through CFAs or step losses. Cheers, Mike

True, plus I also find it easier to waive a punter or kicker than a 3* stud in a "useful" position! All went well in St Louis round 1, lets see what round 2 brings. Norm's choice of player did raise an eyebrow I must admit!

jay i have drafted plenty of qb's in the past including last seson where i drafted 2 the BQ (if he dosn't start (off the bench is ok)any game will definately get a step gain what happened to me is my 2nd choice (and starting rookie QB) copped a step loss while my OL (3rd pick)picked up a gain so i hope this helps as for trading down you pick up 10 lp's per value you trade down and get it instantley while waiving later you will only pick up 8 per value due to them being reduced am happy with my 1st pick 2nd and third will be interesting with a few players still negotiating contracts who i draft could determine who gets a spot for next season --Last edited by greg salmon on 2007-07-13 11:23:35 --

Fins roster will get much stronger in the offseason, we were carrying many weaknesses this year several key strengths at only 3 squad, but just experimenting and having fun. Next year the low number of reductions will give miami a very strong roster with lots of bang for buck, the year after will be a step back so we'll be making a run for the big dance next year. The WR we drafted replaces a guy who retired, adds more pure speed to the offence and gives us the 20 LP tradedown required to fix players, we'll be able to keep everything except 2 SLs, and 2 Waives.

Seems to be a good first round....everyone seems to be content so far.......Greg thanks for the advice (always welcomed) though i'm not sure how much will be taking on board because your cheerleaders are dead hot (I love hot pants...blame Kyle). ![]() Sam Wrote:

Now you've got me worried Jay - who's "Kyle"?!

I think he means Kylie as in Kylie Minogue? A Melbourne girl who used to hang out at the Camberwell Golden Bowl in her youth. Though she probably doesn't want to be reminded about that these days.... By the way Greg if you have any details on the hot blonde, six from the left, feel free to pass them on!

Tom I know full well who Jay means, I was just trying to be funny! Obviously failing... Who can forget the Spinning Around video and gold hot pants...

Yup - the BQ gets an automatic gain and then your other rookies even out (e.g. if you have 2 other rookies at the end of the season, then it's one gain and one loss for them).

Thanks for that Jon....finally....& sorry to be harping on in this.....IF your BQ has maxed-out passing strenghts...does he still get the step gain with a rushing strenght, and if so which is the more likely (ORO/OQB)? I know QB's cant be coached up in these strenghts (i think)...so thats my reason for asking...thanks again. rgds, Jay

Better put your glasses on Jay, the one third to the left is the team coach in drag! He looks equally good in a night dress the players say. Of a more serious nature, you guys love your blondes. Give me the brunette exactly in the middle, she boils my potato. Greg must find coaching games so distracting!

I've only had this situation once and my BQ got an OQB gain. I reckon that's probably the more likely one to get, as I believe OQB is more common for QBs than ORO. Fles, glad to see another brunette man on the forum. If you're talking about the girl over the "N" in "NFLAY" then I'm in total agreement - she sure ... erm ... boils my potato (!?!). If you meant the one over the "m" in "Salmon" however, you'd better borrow Jay's glasses, as she looks like the coach's ugly brother in drag!
