Feel the pain baby...... to fix step losses = 30LP's to fix CFA'S = 80LP's to fix reductions = 50LP's Total LP's required = 160 Total LP's available = 22 Total Pain = 138aarrgghh! Initial instinct is to chuck it in. Practically impossible to obtain even a decent basic squad nowadays, let alone try and have a run & shoot squad! As the limitations are imposed on the rosters, individualism is being eroded for the sake of parity in my opinion. I want individualism any day! I want to be able to have 4 WR's & 5 DB's if I want too WITHOUT having to decimate other areas of the roster to do it. If I carry on it will be in a radical way, just for my own satisfaction and with a big finger stuck up to the dumbing down of gameplan!!!! Watch out for multiple waivers and a ridculous roster in Arizona next year if I stay..... --Last edited by The Cardinal on 2007-07-20 12:30:10 --

I disagree, I think roster were more generic when they were big, because they were all full to the brim, if you want to keep your 6 point QB have 8 points of WRs, 10+ points of DB that is only 24 points, roster sizes are around 60-70ish so that makes about 40 more points to spread around say 10 at Dline, 15 at oline, 10 points of RBs and TEs, 15 points of LB and special teams. Just remember at least the eagles are worse off!

Fix reductions 60 Sign CFA 50 fix step losses 35 less lps gained 69 Pain index 76 Thats not too bad, its the 13 points lost to retirements that suck Never drafted as high as third before, where I can actually decide who I want (presuming the 2 4 point players go first) will be a new experience |

wow that is painful retirements, least the rest are fairly intact. Should have your pick of the 3 pointers etc then, expect sam will pick up the LB or QB??

I'm presuming those two will go 1 2 . If not I'll be grabbing them, prefer to take a DL or DB since they were gutted, but I'm not going to let those two go past me. Hopefully I can get a 4 pointer, 3 pointer and 2 pointer. Should be able to, have to giure a few teams will be trading down. |

At pick 3 I think you stand a very good chance of grabbing the 2 point QB, they usually fall from the first few picks, but are taken in the top 10 I'd guess usually. A 5 point QB usually goes quick, but leagues like the AY usually coaches have their starter and only a couple each year are in the market for a franchise QB. I guess it mostly depends on whether Sam wants the LB or the QB (IIRC his QB sucks) and how good Denver's starter is. I'd be surprised if there were more than a couple of WRs left in round 2, they usually go like hotcakes with the trading down bonus and the love of deep passing ATM. Fun speculating...

Bengals total pain index is 169 points. Worst so far! However only 3 points of retirements which are not included in the calculations. After the initial shock and awe I have done some preliminary calculations and things don't look so bad. If I get 7 or even 8 points worth of rookies then I can juggle the rest and keep most players. Everyone will be feeling pain Mike but this is the time to get rid of players who don't contribute and go with those prepared to put in the hard yards (so to speak).

I think I am getting my costs right. Fix CFAs: 65 Fix SLs: 80 Fix reduced: 55 LPs: 53 Pain index: 147 |

I think I've done this correctly?! 100 to fix SLs 40 to fix reductions 70 to fix CFAs Total LP's required = 210 Total LP's available = 93 = total pain index 117 However, once I waive my BQ, I will have 123 LPs, so the 'real' pain index would only be 87!

Ow tom, I didn't think anyone could be worse off, you have a higher pain index and had 3 retirements ( i had none), Bengals need a good draft to keep it up, good to see you are taking it in stride!

55 to fix reductions 60 to fix step losses 65 to fix cfa's total LP's required: 180 Total Lps available: 65 total pain index - 115 however we do have the #1 pick and the ability to waive players to create some more LP's. Might look bad from the inital look but can easily be accomplished as a lot of the players that need fixing are going to be cut anyway. --Last edited by Sam on 2007-07-22 12:46:45 --

fix step =70 cfa's =60 reduced 40 lp's = 54 pain #116 but the real pain has a number and that's 72 my mvp LT who was fully fit decided to retire after a measly 13 seasons along with 2 other key players for a total of 7* in total that was the real pain it seems this cull is the toughest one yet to hit any league and teams will really have to think hard of who to keep and who stays i personally will have to cut a couple of players who i would really love to keep but looks like so will everyone else personally i feel these hard choices will benefit the game in the long run as you keep your stars and this may lead to more varied styles as you won't be able to fill every spot on your roster as can be done now
with that pain factor you won't be able to afford for them all to return --Last edited by greg salmon on 2007-07-22 18:10:25 --

The report from Arrowhead is fix step- 60 cfa's - 70 red. - 40 lp's -29 pain index- 141 lost my vet 3* C to retirement Its a tough time of year for rosters, but i really do love it. Agree with Greg, the lower rosters are better for the game, give more indiv. flavour to the teams too.

In Houston; Fix SLs - 60 Fix CFAs - 65 Fix REDs - 110 LPs - 115 Pain Index - 120 But I don't actually think it is as bad as that, best off season cull I've had for a while as I normally get smacked with CFAs and SLs and have hardly any Reds. This time I can easily sort out all the SLs and CFAs I want to, and can fix the Reds I want if my draft goes to plan, but even if it doesn't I won't be losing the players as they are just REDs. Even better, my one retirement was my FA signing 4 yr 2*1 FB, my 13 yr NT and 14 yr SS both return despite going into the cull reduced! Gotta be happy with that!

A weekend of reflection does wonders for those of us who over-reacted!! Agree, there are people worse off than me, so it is on with the show! There had to be some waiving to keep the CFA's, so two players have gone in round 1. Hopefully, if I get the draft I am hoping for, then that will be all that goes. After finally working out which players should stay and therefore which players had to go, there was only one direction this squad could go offensively, so it is planning with that in mind from now on!

A detailed plan was ironed out in Philly this weekend too, the bad thing about no retirements is that it seems taht is where most of the compo comes from, good thing is I can "retire" the players I want with the waive action for the points. So 2 players are earmarked for the axe, and two others will be put on condition waiver and targeted for draft priorities. First to go will be special teams ace Ryan Moats, who just doesn't get many carries behind 4*1 star HB Westbrook, and dependable 2* veteran Ritchie. Those looking for a little help on offence, wanting to recruit a gamebreaker at HB or Utilityback may like to submit a tender to Moats when he hits the free agency market next week. Though normally he doesn't get many carries in the last 2 weeks as we've been spelling Westbrook he has had two good games against the Falcons and Cardinals. 2010 Season RB 24 Ryan Moats Wk Att Yds TDs 1 0 0 0 2 0 0 0 3 1 -1 0 -1 4 3 6 0 2 5 6 22 0 3.666666667 6 0 0 0 7 0 0 0 8 0 0 0 9 0 0 0 10 0 0 0 11 2 0 0 0 12 3 12 0 4 13 2 8 0 4 14 1 2 0 2 15 8 40 0 5 16 7 135 2 19.28 Total 33 224 2 6.78 2.1 14.0 0.1 He will be joined on the unemployment line by a vet LB, and perhaps more players.

70 to fix SLs 70 to fix reductions 60 to fix CFAs 37 compensation = total pain index 163 putting me straight in at No. 2! I did get 2 step gains and only one retirement though, so it's not as disastrous as it sounds. Working out who's going to stay, who's going to leave and who's being drafted is however going to be a huge headache! Martyn wins my Jammy Bastard of the Offseason award for his "cull" - anyone taking bets on the Texans for the Super Bowl next year?!
