forum Forum index forumAY- Locker Room forumYour draft plans for the first round

Poll :
What do you plan to do in the first round?

Draft a star to replace a guy I can't afford to keep or who retired.
Draft the best player when its my pick
Draft for best fit in my team (ie fill all starting positions first etc)
target specific strengths you think are important (e.g. DPL, OPS etc)
Trade down to get a 2 point WR with ST skill, best value there is.
Trade down for a 2 point player in a need position
trade down for a 1 point WR, most compo and good value
trade down to a 1 pointer who fits roster, love those 20 LPs trade down.
trade down for a special teams ace and the LP bonus.
some neffarious scheme alex couldn't think up to include in the poll.

With 49er management meeting with both the 4*QB and 4*LB in coming days appears that both have a chance at going #1 in the draft.

Was just thinking how cool it would be if we could trade players and picks, true trading down, rather than in name only!
lol

if only I could. being able to trade draft picks would really make the offseason more interesting and don't know why danny doesn't allow it. imagine the fun you would have if we could move up or down in the draft like the real NFL does.

then again would cost a hell of a lot to pry the number 1 pick from me.

at first I thought fitting in the trade system into the fortnightly turns would be damn hard, but it really just needs a general simple system.

The system seems to value a 1st round pick at 30Lps, 2nd at 20, 3rd at 10, so I guess you could just do an action
[TRADEUP] [R2] [R1] [10](lps)
action, then if anyone has done a
[TRADEDN] [R1] [R2] [__] action they get your bid (10LPs) and you swap picks!
the minimum bid would be 10LPs, and you could bid higher like for FAs, so if several people trade up the tradedown first pick available will go to the highest bidder, 2nd to the next bidder etc.
If you do a tradeup action and noone does a tradedown action its like in the real NFL when you try to move up but noone is interested and visa versa.

Perhaps when trading down you could even put a minimum acceptable bid on your pick, so sam at #1 could trade down and get lots of points for his pick.
[tradedn] [r1] [r2] [20]
so only a trade up action with a bid of 20 LPs or higher would be accepted. (the bidder could then trade off his first round pick to help pay for moving up the order to #1).
And sam would still have round 2 pick #1, to get a 3 pointer leftover, and the traded down 2nd round pick too!

all it needs is 3 boxes added to the draftsheet, one for each of your picks, if you leave them blank then you just use your normal picks with no trading. Tradeup action for paying LPs to get a better pick. TradeDn action for selling your picks

Philadelphia Eagles Draft Picks
Round 1:24 Action:[    ] Round:[  ] Bid:[  ]
Round 2:24 Action:[    ] Round:[  ] Bid:[  ]
Round 3:24 Action:[    ] Round:[  ] Bid:[  ]

so if I went like this:
Philadelphia Eagles Draft Picks
Round 1:24 Action:[TradeDn]  Round:[r3] Bid:[20]
Round 2:48 Action:[TradeUp]  Round:[r1] Bid:[20]
Round 3:72 Action:[       ]  Round:[  ] Bid:[  ]

and other people did suitable actions I would trade my first round pick to someone for 20 points and a 3rd round pick.
I bid 20 LPs and my 2nd round pick to move up to take a good 1st round pick.

has anyone ever mentioned this to danny? would seem to be an element of the game which would make it closer to the nfl and beneficial to the league as a whole.

by the way, the 49ers have offered and agreed a contract with the 4*LB meaning that he will be drafted #1 overall by the 49ers. The 4*QB now falls to #2, possibly lower depending on how other teams draft. would love for him to fall to the second round as I would snap him up with the first pick of the second round.

he won't fall to #25 overall, I guarantee.
Thanks to our chat on skype I've realised the benefit of having a player like that on the bench for a team in my position. If he makes it to #24 he won't make it to #25!

But I'm not holding my breath, IIRC Andy and the Raiders were pretty keen on him at #3 overall...

He's not going to get to no 4 I can guarantee that.

Just hoping the broncos don't take him, or else I'll have to change my plans a bit
