With a little time on my hands this week, first ever fortnight since joining AY without a game, I've drawn up so many draft plans I've used enough paper to cover Ayers Rock in papier mache!
http://www.users.on.net/~acoombe/read.gif
I finally settled on a plan, that revolves around getting 2 players from 2 specific positions in the first 2 rounds. There are plenty of good players available for these two positions, and if I don't end up with a 3 pointer it won't be the end of the world as long as I get both position types.
http://www.users.on.net/~acoombe/smile.gif
So of the first 48 players, there are about 20 that will fit my perfect plan, otherwise the contingency plans will come into effect and it will effect how badly I have to cut players, and what style I will use next year.
http://www.users.on.net/~acoombe/football.gif
One of the reasons I love the cull is you can sculpt your squad by letting certain skills go and use the LPs to strengthen elsewhere, then base a strategy on it (in theory).
This year I have 3 SL ORI, 7 Points of OL CFA, a reduction at OL and each of the RBs has a SL, but the WRs and TE are untouched, and McNabb will be back as a 5 pointer next year too, and it looks like we'll also start the season with a minimum of 6-1 OQB.
http://www.users.on.net/~acoombe/thumb%20up.gif
So if I don't get what I want in the draft I will be required to waive a player or two, or just let steps CFAs etc go.
So I might take the oportunity to let some of the strong running go (drop 3 ORI SLs) and develop a westcoast offence with my 3 pt TE, 5 pt 8th year QB, 2 dual trhreat WRs, 4STR*1 HB and great pass protection.
http://www.users.on.net/~acoombe/salut.gif
The cull might hand me the oportunity to explore a new style, only the results of the first 48 selections will tell.
If I get what I want however I expect the birds offence will move the ball a bit better than it did this year, in a slight evolution of the extant GP, and the improvement will be at the continued sacrifice of defensive players...
http://www.users.on.net/~acoombe/frustrated.gif
Looking forward to seeing how people feel in prep for the draft after all thier planning...

me too.  i've written out my plans &, if it all goes well, i should be able to return all my guys (bar the retirees) & only lose two SLs.  i pick at #13, so there is a very good chance that i can pull it off.

if so, then look out for a new Packers offense next year &, hopefully, a return to playoff football!  http://www.users.on.net/~acoombe/football.gif

For the second year running the Cardinals had no players retired, however, that meant just a miserly 22LP's available to cover the CFA'S and step losses, so players had to go via the waiver list anyway.

In the end it was a simple decision on which players had to go.

The defence had to remain intact, so offence has born the brunt of the player cull. The waivers meant that there was only one natural way for the offence to go, so, with a little help from the draft (which, as I pick at #11, I expect to get what I want from each round), there should be enough LP's to keep the CFA's that are left and the step losses that I want to keep. There will be step losses allowed to go and no reduced players will be fixed either.

In the expectation that all goes well in the draft, the new offensive gameplan has just been structured ready for week 1!

I've been the oposite during my time here, there are only 3 players on defence younger than 8th year, and only 1 drafted in my 4 years here. (3rd round last year)

As always I'll be very keen to see what you come up with, IMHO you're the sharpest offensive mastermind in the conference, maybe the league. There's already changes for slight alteration to Philly's playcalling and gameplan though as I've probably said before it may depend on the draft, if I don't get what I want in the first 2 rounds I will probably end up loosing 3 SL ORI and will go to a passing offence.

Dave and I will be on Skype gametime this week if anyone else wants to join in on the FREE phone banter, just need a $10 headset and internet at home

Certainly would be great to hook up with a few on skype fo a 'live draft'. http://www.users.on.net/~acoombe/smile.gif

At Arrowhead, the Chiefs plans still remain totally planned, much will depend on the way the draft unfolds. So much for a week off, i think both Al and I have put more into this turn than a normal game round!  The delights of a late draft pick! http://www.users.on.net/~acoombe/rofl.gif

getting the 4*LB and 2*LB free agent makes the 3-4 defence viable this season.
http://www.users.on.net/~acoombe/thumb%20up.gif
surprised that there was a 3*OL left on the board and he will be going first off in the second round. a quality OL was my number 2 priority and ecstatic that will be getting one in the second round.

That's a great draft Sam!!!  http://www.users.on.net/~acoombe/shock.gif  http://www.users.on.net/~acoombe/thumb%20up.gif

Happy in Houston with the KK, didn't really want to trade down specifically but with all bar my FB coming back I haven't actually got many roster spots to fill so it makes sense even if it is a bit boring!

Round 1 went to plan for Arizona.....got a player to keep and LP's to fix CFA's.

Round 2 will give me either a player to keep or one to waive for LP's, round three will be a pick to waive for LP's also.

Eagles also got 1st choice, with plenty of depth in our priority areas in second round.

We were always going to be drafting down 1st round, but I was pleasantly surprised to pick up one of the top WRs. Trading down further could've given us more options with our CFAs and SLs, but I think I prefer the extra skill for the future.

A bit of a dilemma for the next round - we have one vacancy on the squad that we really could do with filling, but that may mean passing up on a 3* to take a 2*. Decisions, decisions ...

I pretty much got what I wanted. The interesting bit is always rounds 2 and 3.
